What is Little Gritters?

Little Gritters is our specialised kids-focussed, group-based health and fitness program that is delivered to children from pre-school to year 8.

Our primary goal is to develop your child’s broad general physical skills, learn the importance of human movement, teamwork and nutrition, and develop a positive relationship with health and fitness that will set them up for success in their adult years.

Our weekly sessions run for 40 minutes after school and on Saturday mornings. We also provide specialised programs for vacation care and after school hours care providers.

Five Key Objectives

At each Little Gritters session we aim to achieve the following five outcomes with your children:

  1. Provide a portion of the children’s weekly exercise
  2. Teach foundational movements that are essential for everyday life
  3. Participate in strength, stamina and cardio fitness
  4. Educate children about nutrition
  5. Provide opportunities for children to experience success in their health and fitness.
Session Structure

Our Little Gritters programs are delivered as part of an ongoing fitness program at our St. Helen’s Park location.

Each weekly session runs for 40 minutes. For vacation care and OSHC providers, our sessions vary from 45 to 90 minutes in length and movements and activities are customised to suit the various ages and needs of the group.

Each session involves a fun warm-up, individual, partner and group exercises as well as technical skills training.

Workouts are short in duration (6-10 minutes) and range from low, medium to high intensity depending on the ages of the kids we are working with.

Each session aims to develop General Physical Preparedness (GPP), including the 10 general physical skills:

  • Strength
  • Stamina
  • Cardio fitness
  • Flexibility
  • Agility
  • Coordination
  • Speed
  • Power
  • Accuracy
  • Balance.

Vacation care and OSHC Providers:

$10 per child
